This engine was running well when the owner got an oil sample back that showed a lot of metal. Compressions seemed good till one of the cylinders got to top-dead center, when comrpession disappeared quickly. A borescope revealed flaking at the upper end of all the cylinders. Further investigation revealed the top compression rings on all the cylinders were broken.
