Eric H

When Eric doesn’t have his eyes on oil reports, he has them behind acorn hats. And when he doesn’t have them behind acorn hats, he has them in a book, on a screen (probably watching Fantastic Mr. Fox for the 50th time), or on the road while riding his bicycle.

Eric also enjoys creative writing (mostly in Spanish), attempting to teach his cat to go on long walks like a dog, and attending live music events.

Ashlee

When your kits arrive, you have Ashlee to thank. A kit builder extraordinaire, Ashlee also knows how to do many things at Blackstone – she can unpack samples, fix weird printing problems, and enter your info into the computer. Don’t get on her bad side, is what we’re saying. Just kidding, Ashlee doesn’t have a bad side (unless you ask her kids). When she’s not at Blackstone you might find her painting with acrylics or spending time in a cabin at one of her favorite places on earth, the Great Smoky Mountains!

Brett

When senior analyst Brett isn’t writing oil analysis reports at Blackstone, she’s lying in bed watching Netflix, hanging out with her writer friends, walking in the woods, playing Dungeons and Dragons, or trying to find weird things at thrift stores. She graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing from Bennington College in 2010, and is a bona fide published author, publishing a book of poetry in 2023. She once tried to name her cat, Nora, as her life insurance beneficiary, but the HR person at that job didn’t think it was funny. Brett has been known to bring singing telegrams to the office, as well as naming the metal chicken that lives in the writer’s area and bestowing him with his own desk.

Kenny

When he’s not lifting test tubes in the lab, Kenny can be found lifting weights at the gym. He also likes spending time in the great outdoors, fishing on Lake Wawasee, and kayaking on Cedar Creek.

Megan

When she’s not logging in your samples and answering your phone calls, Megan can be found reading, playing with her Australian Shepherd Barry and hound dog Bella, and volunteering at local food banks.

Lydia

Lydia studied English and worked as a videographer for several years before joining Blackstone to work in the lab. When she’s not running oil samples she enjoys traveling, spending time with loved ones, working on the family farm, camping, hiking, cooking lots of new recipes (ever try strawberry lemonade pancakes?), and updating an Excel sheet which contains a list of every movie she’s ever seen. You can ask at any time how many she has seen and she will almost certainly have a precise answer (and lots of opinions of what’s on the list).

Eric S

Eric started in the receiving area but has evolved into an all-around building maintenance manager and helps us with all kinds of projects, like building more racks and renovating buildings. Eric might look intimidating, like he’s could kick your butt; in reality, he lifts weights and actually could kick your butt but he probably wouldn’t because he’s such a nice guy. Eric loves traveling the country, is a goalie for various indoor soccer leagues, and spends time doing graphic design. Or at least, he did, till he had a kid. Now he spends time taking care of his son, who thankfully is a good traveler and falls asleep immediately upon hitting the road.

Suzi

Senior analyst Suzi is all about learning and making things. She designs knitting patterns for her Etsy store Nebulous Knits, focusing primarily on plush toys and educational models. She keeps freshwater planted aquariums, way too many houseplants and enjoys gardening in the summertime. She also hikes year round and brings her scruffy little dog Buddy along whenever he can be coaxed out from his blanket fortress.

Mary

When she’s not sorting and setting up your samples, Mary likes to travel — mainly to see her sons and mom who are scattered throughout the Midwest. She stays fit doing yoga and pilates, as well as walking her dog, preferably in the summertime. The hotter the weather the better for Mary, who can sometimes be found bundled up with a coat and gloves while working in the receiving area at Blackstone.

Jason

Jason is a sports guy – football, basketball, baseball — you name it and he’s coached it, mainly for teams his son plays on. Although he was born here, he grew up in Tallahassee before returning to the Midwest to enjoy fishing and cheering on the Fighting Irish. We’re not sure how we managed to hire a Notre Dame fan, but Jason has charmed us so we’ll let it slide.
