If iron, copper, and lead made you think "bearing failure," you're right on. The S2000 has a system that sprays the bottom of the pistons with oil. In this one, not enough oil was being sprayed. Inadequate piston lubrication led to scoring, which in turn caused excessive bearing wear on the steel crankshaft.
